Mortality It comes without warning, from out of nowhere many would say! The same has happened to many of you too. What am I referring to? Pondering your personal Mortality! Maybe it is the season of the year; Spring and Easter. Or maybe it is the increasing physical challenges that accompany each passing month. Another cause may be when I've spent quality time with my children and grandchildren. Now whether it is all or a combination, I have recently been extremely mindful of my mortality. As many of you know, such reflecting can be quite emotional as well as transforming. It is in these moments, when we are taking an account of our life past-present-future, that true Disciples of Christ refuse to waste the rest of their life on this earth, not serving the King of Kings. "What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes." (James 4:14) This Lord's Day, April 28th, we are going to explore the one focus that fills our brief life with meaning and purpose and also prepares us for Eternity, wherein we serve our Lord in a Resurrected Body! I look forward to the Word and Spirit reviving our hearts this Lord's Day. Prepare: Read Revelation 19 See you this Lord's Day, Bro Bryce

The Stone Was Rolled Back Matthew 28:2 "And behold, there was a great earthquake for an Angel of the Lord descended from Heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it." I was 16 when I responded to the Lord's call to repentance and faith. I've never doubted that His Resurrection Power changed me and gave me eternal life. Even as a young baby in Christ I knew the Word clarified that Salvation was in Christ alone. As Romans 6:4 says".... Just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life." As I've grown in my walk with Christ and my understanding of God's Word I continue to be enriched and amazed by Biblical Truth. Our verse today, Matthew 28:2 reminds us about the stone that was used to seal the Tomb Christ was placed in. Our article on Tuesday mentioned several insights related to its security and protection. I asked "why did the Angel roll back the stone?" My Friends, it was not to let Jesus out! The scriptures confirm that just as His Body passed through the grave clothes and would also pass through the walls in the upper room Easter Sunday evening. Our Lord Jesus did not need to exit by way of the sealed entrance. He simply just passed through the sealed Tomb, at will. This is a great witness to "The Power of the Resurrection." We can conclude therefore, that the Angel rolled back to stone to enable the Followers of Christ to see that the Tomb was empty. John 20:8 "Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed." Yes, early on the third day the Angel rolled the stone away so that sinners could see and believe. Finally, have you thought about how few believers had the opportunity to see the Empty Tomb or the Resurrected Christ. Jesus said to Thomas, "Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." (John 20:29) Dear Christians, as God planned, for two thousand years, the preaching of the Gospel of Christ is the only way one can meet the Resurrected Christ. Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes....." See you Sunday, Bro Bryce Sunrise Service 6:00am Worship Service 11:00am

The Tomb was Empty!! "and you are still in your sins." 1 Corinthians 15:17 This verse is part of a lengthy passage wherein Paul is explaining the horrific consequences if there is no Resurrection. (1 Cor 15:12-19) Paul believed so strongly in the evidences for Christ's bodily resurrection that he actually points out to the enemies of Christ where they should attack. The Apostle had no doubts that the evidence for Jesus' victory over the grave was undeniable. One of many "I witnesses" to the bodily resurrection of Christ was Mary Magdalene. (Jesus cast 7 demons from her in Luke 😎 John 20:1 says " Now, on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb very early, while it was still dark, and saw the stone had been taken away from the Tomb." In verses 2-18 John records Mary's reporting the empty tomb to Peter and John, their immediate visit to the tomb, and Mary Magdalene encounter with the two angels at the tomb and her recognition of her resurrected Lord. For a few moments, lets focus on the Stone that Mary noted had been moved from the tomb entrance. The Scriptures reveal a great deal about this Stone which also points to the Bodily resurrection of Jesus. A few facts! This was a new expensive unused tomb belonging to Joseph of Arimathea, excellent workmanship including a very heavy cut/hewn stone to fit over the entrance. Both Nicodemus and Joseph anointed Christ's body and then placed it in the tomb. Joseph would know the procedure for sealing the grave by rolling the stone into place. By design, the stone could not be easily rolled away from the entrance. Procedure took multiple men and personal knowledge of hidden latches and stops. The Roman Government placed guards at the tomb to watch and protect against thieves. (The High Priest and other leaders hinted that the disciples would steal the body and claim He had been resurrected) The guards could not sleep, sit, or recline, failure to keep secure meant death. The Romans also placed the official Seal on the tomb. To break the seal could also result in execution. The Stone was rolled away by an angel and the Tomb was empty by early Sunday Morning. The guards were bribed by the Jewish leaders and were to say they fell asleep and the disciples came and took the body. (Matthew 28:11-15) The scheme to bribe the guards proves the tomb was really empty. Also the guards were admitting dereliction of duty which could result in their execution. We know who rolled the stone away! But, WHY did the Angel come early on the Lord's day to do it? -Bro Bryce
